Our ministry at Duncan United Church is based on a simple but powerful scripture verse -
"...and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8)
We commit to be a community of faith that follows in the Way of Jesus, striving to embrace diversity in our congregation and community and to affirm the dignity and worth of every person. We believe that extending generous hospitality to all is compatible with Christ's message of unconditional love.
We acknowledge that for thousands of years, Indigenous people have lived on the land upon which we worship and thankfully acknowledge the Hul'qumi'num People and their stewardship of this land throughout the ages.
We believe that faith is a journey, a search for meaning and understanding as outlined in the "8 points" of the Canadian Centre for Progressive Christianity.
Important statements of our fundamental beliefs can be found at the
United Church of Canada website, however, the essence of our faith can be found in "A New Creed", an affirmation of faith adopted by the 23rd General Council in 1968.
